PUBLIC PERCEPTION OF PUBLIC SERVICES IN THE FOOD SECURITY AND AGRICULTURE SECTOR OF TAPIN DISTRICT IN 2024

Abstract

The declining position of the Tapin Regency Human Development Index (HDI) over the past two years is an indication of irregularities in public services. Therefore, it is important to conduct a study on the performance of public services in the food security and agriculture sector. The purpose of this study is to collect, process, analyze, and interpret data on public perceptions of public services performances in the food security and agriculture sector. The study method include taking secondary data from government, business community and civil society. The results are mapped during the 2023 budget year, then primary data is collected through sample, informant and in-depth interview techniques. The results of the study show that there is an increase in the quantity and quality of services provided by the Tapin Regency government in the food security and agriculture sector. However, the increase in service has not been able to satisfy the community. Feelings of dissatisfaction arise because the community has experienced similar services from business community. In this case, several coal mining companies provide periodic services to the community around. BMB Block-2 coal mining company has succeeded in empowering the community's economy through the development of goat farming in Pantai Cabe Village. In conclusion, business community (through the company's CSR program) in Tapin Regency is considered to have higher quality. Therefore, it is recommended that the bureaucracy within the Tapin Regency Government follow the public service practices of the business community in the field of food security and agriculture.
